Trip Overview
Stok Kangri Trek in the northern part of India is getting popular day by day for the past few years. It’s a beautiful trekking and climbing expedition that takes place in the famous Ladakh region of India. One of the most beautiful trekking experiences in India, Stok Kangri has attracted numerous adventure trekkers, and nature and peace lovers from around the world.
Trekking in the Ladakh region on towards Stok Kangri brings the adventurers many awesome encounters with natural wonders, breathtaking Himalayan scenery and amazing cultural life of people living in the Ladakh region. Some sudden changes in the landscapes as the trekking advances forward give some wonderful feeling of being into this incredible place. The trek actually starts from Stok village which is a short drive to south from Leh, the capital city of Ladakh, and continues for next few days taking the adventurers closer to the Stok Kangri base camp and finally to the summit and back to Leh. While the trekking experience before starting the climbing expedition of the peak itself is a fascinating one, the highlight of the trip is obviously the summit day. A worthy adventure to take, the climbing day brings some of the best views in the world from the top of Stok Kangri which leaves a beautiful memory to cherish. Witnessing some grand views of the Indus valley, Karakoram mountain range, and Zanskar mountain range is definitely the highlight of the trip.
Itenerary
Upon your arrival at Delhi airport, you will see our representative waiting for you to transfer you to the hotel. It’s an easy day today so take some relaxing leisure time on your own once we help you check into the hotel. Overnight in Hotel.We fly to Leh, the capital city of beautiful Ladakh in the mountains. The flight of about one hour and fifteen minutes takes us to Leh, the incredible place on earth. While traveling from Delhi to Leh we will gain a good elevation thus we need an extra day here to acclimatize before starting on our trekking journey. While in Leh we will be at the elevation of 3500 meters above sea level. Once we reach Leh, we will talk about our further trekking trip in detail. Overnight in Hotel.As we are spending the day here, we go for an exploration of Leh city where we will visit beautiful monasteries and ancient places. While going around Leh, we will be getting familiar with the high altitude climate here and our bodies will learn to adjust to it so that we are ready to move ahead on our trekking and expedition journey. After an awesome day of exploring the cultural, natural, and spiritual grandeur of Leh, we return back to the hotel and relax. Overnight in Hotel.The first day of our trekking adventure in the Ladakh region, the day is going to be pretty exciting today. The very beginning of the day actually is a short drive to Stok village from where we start the real trekking. The drive goes past exotic places in the region when we proceed south from Leh to Stok village. From Stok village, we start trekking towards Chang Ma which is our destination place today. The stretch from Stok village to Chang Ma brings a challenging yet beautiful trekking experience in the mountains. Once we reach Chang Ma at the elevation of 3990 meters above sea level, we set our tents and prepare to stay overnight there as we admire the magical beauty of the surrounding. Overnight in Hotel.During the trek today to Mankorma we are going to learn and experience why Ladakh is famously known as the cold desert. The whole stretch of the landscape from Chang Ma to Mankorma is a barren area. The trek passes through some small mountain streams and incredible Ladakhi landscape to give us a wonderful trekking experience in Ladakh. We stay overnight at Mankorma under tented camps at the elevation of 4330 meters above sea level. Overnight in Camp.We take the daily trek to the Base camp today where we will set our camp. The trek itself is a short trip but the beauty that the stretch brings to us is impeccable. Once we set up our camp, we can take a walk to a little higher part of the camp for some extraordinary views of incredible mountain peaks including Gulab Kangri, Parcha Kangri, and several other beautiful mountains. The base camp area consists of grassy land with some small lakes around. We will have some time to explore the grandeur of the place and acclimatize. Overnight in Camp.We spend the day today preparing for the climb of the next day, the highlight of the trip. A detailed discussion on the coming adventure, route information, safety measures, etc. will take place today. Most of the time of the day today will be physically relaxing as we are saving energy and getting prepared for the climbing part but mentally we will be absorbing so much about the upcoming adventure. We will be getting somewhat familiar with the thin air of the high altitude and know some techniques to adjust to it. We spend overnight under our tents at the base camp. Overnight in Camp.The highlight of the trip today, we are going to start the adventure really early morning. How early will be notified to you on the base camp preparation day! A long and challenging day today, we will climb past a glacial region, steep slopes, and ridges before we attain the summit. Thus we need to be highly well prepared to take on the challenge of the long day effort. After a few hours of struggle up in the mountain, we reach the summit of the ridge where a breathtaking view is awaiting us. A spectacular view of Karakoram Range, Zansker range and dominating Saser Kangri will force us to forget all the difficult times we passed through to reach the top. After enjoying and absorbing some quality time on the top, we start descending towards the base camp. On reaching the base camp, we find ourselves cozy under our tents. Overnight in Camp.After the most expected summit bid of the Stok Kangri, we start our trek back down towards Leh. We are trekking back all the way to back Stok village today. So it’s going to be a long day of walking before we get a ride to Leh. Although a long day the walk, the trekking area will bring us some of the best natural wonders of Ladakh to make us forget the difficult challenge of long walking hours. Once reach Leh, we spend the most awaited relaxing time after these few days of incredible adventure experience. Overnight local lodge.We fly to Delhi today bidding farewell to the beautiful mountains and people of Ladakh and also being grateful for the awesome adventure of a lifetime. Once we land in Delhi, we will go straight for some cultural and historical sightseeing tours of Delhi before going to the hotel. Once we finish the tour, we will transfer you to the hotel where our service ends for the trip. But if you need any further assistance, we will always be happy to assist you.
