Ganesh Himal Trekking lies in the central-north region of the Nepal Himalayas and is one of the most isolated and least explored areas so far. A very small number of foreigners have explored in recent years. The name 'Ganesh' comes from the famous Hindu deity, the God of fortune, who has an elephant head. Ganesh IV, also known as Pabil Peak, has a similar resemblance to an elephant head with a ridge like a tusk.
This region offers truly untouched natural splendor, wild and friendly inhabitants with distinctive cultural heritages, and magnificent views of the peaks.
During the trek, you can observe diverse cultural practices, walk past many small villages lined in ridges and valleys, and enjoy walks in the dense forest and beautiful meadows. Since the region is less visited by foreigners, it offers a real smell of the Nepali mountain lifestyle and real natural grandeur. Ganesh Himal is a camping trek (or you sleep in a tent camp since no hotels/lodges are available), but for a few nights, you stay at the local house to experience the locals. Our company has a village development project in the area, so you have a chance to get experience in it and take part in various projects.
Upon arrival at the international airport, you will be received by our office representative. And, then you will be transferred to your hotel. You check in at your Hotel and then after a short rest, you can go to explore the market area of Thamel. In Thamel, you can eat your supper, change money, buy some stuff from the supermarket, or buy trekking gear – if you need to do so. Later we take you to our office for the trip briefing. Overnight at your hotel. Delay of any kind will postpone the events for the next day according to feasibility.
You start the day with a delicious breakfast served at your Hotel. The sightseeing involves a tour of two religious and cultural sites Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa.
Pashupatinath Temple: It is one of the most celebrated Hindu temples in South Asia. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. This place is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. The Bagmati river flowing beside the temple is religiously and spiritually significant for Hindus where the cremation of the dead body takes place. Pashupatinath temple holds the most prominence during Shivaratri – Shiva’s birthday and thousands of pilgrims gather in the night to celebrate the day.
Boudhanath Stupa: It is one of the biggest Stupas in terms of size and height in Nepal and is located east of Kathmandu on the ancient trade route between India - Nepal and Tibet. The site is peaceful and culturally filled with the intermixed influence of Tibetan and Sherpa roots. Stupa built on the trading route between Kathmandu and Tibet has four pairs of eyes directed towards all four directions. It is believed to be influenced by Mahayana Buddhist philosophy. After a short tour of the city, we return to the hotel and prepare for the trek. Overnight will be spent at the hotel.
